The general goal of certificate course in dietician is to provide skills and knowledge to the graduates who are comfortable and capable in their dietary internships and in many communities, food service, management and diagnostic settings, in the form of professionals capable of providing excellent entry level dietary service to work in.

Certificate course in dietician is presented in the Nutrition and Food Science Department of Texas Women's University. The program is presented in the broad framework of diploma course in nutrition and dietetics; therefore, the prospective student should complete the university's entry requirements. A graduate program that successfully completes the curriculum requirements for the DPD will receive a verification description from the director and apply for nutrition internship in Texas Woman University or other recognized programs.

Upon successful completion of the dietitian internship, the students are eligible to take a national examination to become qualified dietician and become active members of the Dietetic Association.

The DPD program at the University of Nevada will prepare graduates for a dietary career by using the knowledge and skills gained during the DPD. Upon entering the main, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 in each semester and all nutrition science courses should have no grades lower than C. Students who fail to maintain GPA of 2.50 will be put on academic probation and they will need to get academic advice.

Completion of DPD allows graduates to apply for any dietary internship recognized by CADE. After completing a graduate internship, she is eligible for the National Examination for registered dietitians.
